world unfolding by making it up

Reposted from substack from May 2023.

This world we live is a practice, where we make up things together in order to organize ourselves. All the world is a child at play.

Evolution cares not at all, or at least, not at the moment at all, not yet, how:-

  • rational, or,

  • reasonable, or,

  • crazy, or,

  • fantastic, or,

  • believable, or, even,

  • mysterious

any of this… —is.

That is the truth and it is nothing.

We cannot use any of those descriptions for goodness sake, philosophical or practical, as some base line from which to build everything else, except we do, and do so repeatedly, because it is a basic “mistake” which grants us success in survival. We are biased to should/do/make/practice/live. No bias, no life, no survival if no mistakes are made.

Winners are grinners.
We organize ourselves, at a minimum base level, and often think this grants us godhood. Leaders become pharoahs.
To err is human.
We organize on this basis.
The next “basic” mistake is to think everything is organized much like us, innocently unaware we are perhaps not-gods, unaware that the barest survival is such a thin line of success.
The dead are silent, the extinct tell no tales.
In child-like learning we miss-step into the future.

If evolution does care about how

rational/reasonable/crazy/fantastic/believable/mysterious… —or not,

anything “is”, then why do we worry about how it should be?

Somehow evolution has come up with us, as we are, with an urge to should into the world, while not caring what we should, or if it does care, not very carefully. And not in a good way.

(The mechanics of survival in evolution and adaption may be described rationally or not, but does survival care? If survival doesn't care then neither does evolution.)

Evolution does not ought, but we should anyways. We care.

Metaethics, the evolution of morality… —is that all there is to it?

Evolution does not care if the rational mechanics of reality, the working/s of the universe, is not mirrored in the world of our making as we should along in our lives.

Evolution does not care about the… —gap.

Perhaps this explains the Fermi paradox. Aliens more logical than us, and perhaps gap…—less, would realise their existence is not a feature of reality and promptly disappear. [Hurriedly I rush to see if Douglas Adams has come up with this before me.]

The world is what we make of reality
                  complexity
you can call this
a flow of information, or data in context,
but we feel it
as the discipline of the site, and
                  the wisdom of home.
World is a power
                  worldren are children
                  to think of them/us
is to ask what becomes of us/them
and forget
to make dinner the night before
we day
                  the light into morning.

And lately
                  to make light
we defer the world into an after
                  life
                  a city of god
                  an emporer's new clothes
forgetting to practise the day
                  in making the bed.
